Smash Bros. Update: Enter the Dragoon!

An update on the Wii’s most anticipated game.

While the official Smash Bros. site is currently on a year-end holiday break from posting updates, there is a little more game information that has recently been released. While details are far from complete - it appears that Nintendo has a few new elements that appear to sweeten the pot a bit. They have announced at least one new instrument of death into the game itself — you can earn pieces of a airplane-like ship or ‘Dragoon’ through fighting - as seen below.

Dragoon fight

The Dragoon of course is broken into three and parts of it can be periodically earned throughout the game. Easier said than done I’m sure and this will be an item that is fairly difficult to obtain. Of course, given the amount of preparation required, it boasts tremendous firepower! Nintendo themselves has confirmed that this will be considered a one-hit KO. The Dragoon itself is in parts and must be collected and assembled. However, if you manage to collect all three parts, you will complete the legendary Air Ride machine…

Dragoon

Pretty awesome looking! I would say that in itself is cool — in fact, if that was all I knew is that this thing was going to be in the game I would say “Sweet!” But my friends, it just gets better and better …

Dragoon is formed - let’s go for a fly!

FIRE!!!

Oh man. I am so going to go get in line at my local game store right now! The battle for this item is sure to be insane, perhaps even worse than the battles that will take place as fans try to get their hands on the game itself. But I digress… to make matters worse, you can actually lose Dragoon parts already collected while fighting others by dying — or collect them of course by putting a beatdown on an opponent who has one of the Dragoon parts and making him fumble it like a football. This is kill or be killed people!

I can only imagine that the scramble for these parts will be pretty incredible - especially in multiplayer mode! The joy of finally getting all three! Your enemies doing whatever they can to flee like the cowards you knew they were. It’s like Nintendo has added a delicious new spice, and this is going to be one kickass meatloaf! Served with a side of smashed potatoes and smothered in awesome.
In closing, you can see more information at the official site HERE - they have promised new posts starting January 7th. Of course, the game itself is over a month away. Hang tight and in the interim and keep your eyes peeled for these three items.
