Worst Wii Games - Updated!

authorCanucklehead | June 20, 2008

Guess who’s back! That’s right - its your old friend Canucklehead with an updated collection. I did this one originally a few months ago and we are already due for an update. Behold the absolute worst garbage currently available for the Wii (thus far). Luckily, there is no shortage of crap that and the last list was outdated by the time I even posted it. I’ve left a few of the real stinkers on and added some of the glaring omissions that people suggested - as well as a few more I found on my own. So, without any further ado, on with the new and improved list of craptacularity!

Ninjabread Man: This one now takes the top spot for the simple reason that it was the one most cited as being omitted last time. So, in the name of research I actually went and rented it - someone owes me $5.00! I normally relish in things that are so bad that they’re good - you know, a hip to be square kind of bad. This game pathetically could not even give me that - had I sensed that the developers tried and failed I might have derived a little enjoyment from it - but this was clearly a hollow exercise from day one. No dialogue, no challenge, no fun - c’mon, couldn’t you have ’spiced’ him up a bit?! Ninjabread Man is indeed bad, but not in any way that might make you want to play it. It’s just bad.

Alone in the Dark should probably be left alone

The highly ambitious horror title, Alone in the Dark is nearing its release and already, it has been receiving poor reviews. The bone-chilling game was looking like it could be a welcome addition to the Wii’s lineup of software but it turns out that it is not what was expected.

European sites like Game Reactor Norway have given the game a 3/10, while other ones such as Game Reactor Sweden and Denmark have given the game a 4/10. But here’s the catch… It looks like Game Reactor was never sent a review copy of Alone in the Dark by Atari. Therefore Atari is claiming that their review is either based on a Preview or Pirated Copy of the game. So, Game Reactor was [not so] kindly asked to remove the Review off the site.

Now the Official Nintendo Magazine has already reviewed the game giving it a score of 64%. The ONM felt that the game was unfinished and can even be quoted to saying, “Call us back when you finish the game, eh chaps?”

It is really a great disappointment when you think that the Wii is going to get a hardcore, mature, horror-title that could give us a little taste of the greatness we all felt when we played Resident Evil 4.

Look out for Alone in the Dark this tuesday if you still want to give the game a shot despite bad reviews. We’ll see what some of the bigger sites have to say about this game, and if there’s much change then we’ll report it. But until then, keep checking back to My Wii News for more Wii info.

Hackers Rejoice! The Twilight Princess Hack is Back!

Last week, Nintendo attempted to kill all of our homebrewing fun with a small update. If you haven’t heard yet, the latest update lets us move a Mii from the Mii Plaza to the Mii Parade directly while killing the Twilight Princess hack at the same time! Awesome! [sarcasm]

Well, the homebrewers didn’t waste too much time getting their precious hack back. Apparently, the guys over at Hackmii found out that the new code was, “targeted at the one Twilight Princess bug that enables homebrew loading.” Then they found bugs in that.

So now, they have made some code that I guess, lets the Twilight Hack load once more. I’m not so much of a Hardcore technical guy so i’m not sure what all that coding stuff means, but if you are into that matter, check out the in-depth analysis: Here. Also, keep checking back to My Wii News, we’ll keep you updated.
