5 Game Franchises that Must Use the Wii MotionPlus!
If you haven’t heard yet, Nintendo has just announced a new add-on for the Wii. Called the Wii MotionPlus, and don’t just shrug this one off because this is the add-on which will literally change the way we play games. The new peripheral, according to Nintendo, will allow 1:1 like movements on screen. Allowing us all to play that star wars game, or golf like game we’ve been dreaming of since, well… forever! With this being said, we could think of hundreds of different game franchises that could use this controller, and use it well. But lets narrow it down to the top 5 game franchises that we would like for them to use this brilliant new add-on to the already wonderful Wii-mote.
Number 5: Tiger Woods PGA tour
We’ve all wanted that perfect golf game with the Wii-mote, but frankly, we were never going to get it. Until now! While we haven’t seen what this new peripheral can do until E3 tomorrow (which we will be covering extensively) what Nintendo has said is surely promising and we’ll take their word for it. Imagine, being in front of your TV screen, you slowly move you arm back getting ready to take the shot, and the character on-screen does exactly what your doing. Then you quickly strike forward with a powerful blow and at the same time your character mimics you. You get a feeling of control over a game you’ve never felt before and for a second there you actually felt like Tiger playing at the PGA tour. The possibilities are endless and with 1:1 gameplay, this could definitely be a hit if used alongside the Wii MotionPlus.
Number 4: No More Heroes
While it is still unconfirmed whether or not there will be a sequel to No More Heroes 2, this would be a really, really good time to bring one out. While the first games wasn’t all the good, imagine the possibilities. Get rid of the old sand-box system to make something more along the lines of the Grand Theft Auto series. Keep the old blood and gore and stylized art. And top it off with a little bit of Wii MotionPlus and you’ve got yourself an AAA game! Whether or not you liked No More Heroes is up to you, personally, I didn’t think it was that great. But then when you rethink what it could do with Nintendo’s new Wii-mote peripheral, No More Heroes 2 would instantly become one of your most anticipated games ever!
Number 3: MLB 2k series
Okay, who wouldn’t want this? I mean, seriously. Baseball… America’s passtime, and add that in with being the laziest country in the world and look at what we’ve got. The holy grail of gaming! Imagine, being your favorite baseball player, in my case, Ichiro Suzuki. Being able to do their exact warm-up act that they preform at the plate before they take the pitch… With 1:1 controls! Taking a swing… With 1:1 controls! Throwing a pitch… With 1:1 controls! How great would that feel? No doubt would it be the best baseball video game in the history of the world. The Wii will know not only be bought by soccer moms and little kids (casual crowd), but now it will be bought by 45 year old men who will spend countless days and endless night playing their new MLB baseball video game.
Number 2: The Legend of Zelda
My favorite game franchise of all time, this would’ve been number one on my personal list but since I like you readers so much, I decided to take one for the team and be unbiased about this one. If your unfamiliar with the Zelda franchise, (shame on you) your basically a young, speechless hero named Link in a quest to save the Hyrule and Princess Zelda of course. Well, the story is much more epic then that, but I’m not going to sit here and explain it. So go buy Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time if you really want to know about a Zelda game. But with all of that aside, I’m pretty much sure that everybody knows the possibilities involved if we are to get a Zelda game using the Wii MotionPlus. While riding on top of Epona we could take out enemies with the Master Sword all while in 1:1 combat. We could even do spin attack by literally jumping up and spinning in mid air! Well… maybe I’m taking it a bit too far with that one. But you get my point, a Zelda with 1:1 combat would be awesome to say the least. And I know that Nintendo would be able to pull it off.
Number 1: The Star Wars Series
Yup, you guys probably guessed it from the beginning. Everybody has been wondering ever since the wii-mote was shown if we could get that ultimate light saber game for the Wii. In order to pretend that we are young padawons training to become a Jedi Master in our very own bedrooms. Many people debunked this question, stating the true facts and specs of the Wii-mote and showing us that indeed, a 1:1 light saber game for the Wii was impossible. Now, Star Wars enthusiasts, rejoice! You have another chance! A 1:1 light saber game would basically mean Nintendo winning the Console wars, because this would absolutely be one of the funnest games of all time. Imagine with me once more, deflecting high-speed bullets off you light saber. Taking off a droids head by slashing sideways. Holding out the wii-mote and letting go of the B trigger to see your light saber retreat back into the handle with that cool noise “zzzztsh.” And most importantly, using the force. All with 1:1 controls, no one can say that they wouldn’t want a 1:1 light saber game. Its just not something we, as humans, can resist. So I rest my case.
These are the five games that would be best suited for the Wii and its brand new, ingenious peripheral, The Wii MotionPlus! What do you guys think? Are there any other games you would like to see using this add-on? Discuss it in our forums!

This sounds like the wiimote probably should have been from the start. Although it is good to see Nintendo lokoing to improve already great controls and not leave us with what we’ve got. Nintendo are obviously looking to dig the knife in deeper to Sony and Microsoft with this. What I will say though is, hopefully Nintendo will bring out new wiimotes that don’t need the extra attachment on the bottom, with everything already built in.
