The highly anticipated Super Smash Bros. Brawl has sold 1.08 million copies since it launched in Japan two weeks ago. Blowing Wii Fit out of the water, there’s no doubt that Super Smash Bros. Brawl is currently the favorite out of the Wii’s library in Japan, and it will likely continue this trend all over the world. North America is up next with the game due out on March 9th. It will likely be hard to find a copy for a while. Everyone I know that has a Wii is planning on purchasing this game.
A quick comparison to just how quickly it got to 1 million copies: It took Wii Sports 11 weeks. It took Wii Fit seven weeks. Super Mario Galaxy has yet to do it in 14 weeks. Brawl? Well, it only took 11 days.
Rumours about a Windwaker Link have been found all over the internet ever since Brawl was announced, well… for all of you folks who have been wanting a Windwaker Link in Smash Bros. for ages now, don’t you go ranting on the nintendo forums just yet, there is still a chance! A leaked photo from what seems to be the japanese version of the game has been floating around the internet for a couple of days now, and you can clearly see Dark Windwaker Link selected as the character! Don’t go jumping for joy either though, this is not a screen from any magazine or official game website, so this could just be a photo done by some random person with some crazy photoshop skills. The picture seems to be taken off of a tv or some kind of monitor, which is what makes it believable. What makes it look as if it’s unbelievable is the fact that there is a character named robot right next to “Toon” Link, also the fact that Sakurai stated that there would be no more clone characters. Ganondorf and Captain Falcon were clone characters, yet, they appear in this player roster. There is always the chance that Sakurai just gave them different move sets, but who knows. Check out the picture below to see what i’m talking about.
Real or Fake? My guess is that it’s probably fake, but it appears that we won’t know until the game gets to Japan in a couple of days, we’ll make sure we give you guys an update on wether or not Windwaker Link made the cut.
In what we can only hope is the relentless pursuit of perfection the Smash Bro. Dojo announced today that Super Smash Bro. Brawl will once again be delayed in both Japan and the U.S. The new U.S. ship date is now March 9, giving us another month of waiting and a whole lot more Dojo updates. The Japanese ship date in now Jan. 31. I guess one of the bright sides is the realization that this game has so much in it they can offer daily updates for another whole month but that really doesn’t stop the pain of being so close to owning the game and then having it wrenched from our grasps. Here are the exact words from the games producer Masahiro Sakurai, via the site:
Due to delays in the completion of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, we’ve had to change the release date of the game to Sunday, March 9th.
I deeply apologize to the people who have looked forward to playing the game for so long and ask that you hold on just a little longer. Thank you for your patience.
Now, if you’ll excuse me I have to go play Melee while weeping into my controller.
