It’s a proud day for Wii owners around the globe. According to the latest NPD sales figures, Nintendo’s critically acclaimed Wii has surpassed Microsoft’s Xbox 360 in sales. Of course, the amazing thing about this is the 360 had a one year head start over the Wii, but nothing can stop the Wii’s popularity. Soccer moms and six year olds scoop the gaming system up like they’re hot cakes. This didn’t come as a suprise, many people along with reggie, predicted that the Wii would pass the 360 in sales very soon. Hit the jump for some sales figures.
The highly ambitious horror title, Alone in the Dark is nearing its release and already, it has been receiving poor reviews. The bone-chilling game was looking like it could be a welcome addition to the Wii’s lineup of software but it turns out that it is not what was expected.
European sites like Game Reactor Norway have given the game a 3/10, while other ones such as Game Reactor Sweden and Denmark have given the game a 4/10. But here’s the catch… It looks like Game Reactor was never sent a review copy of Alone in the Dark by Atari. Therefore Atari is claiming that their review is either based on a Preview or Pirated Copy of the game. So, Game Reactor was [not so] kindly asked to remove the Review off the site.
Now the Official Nintendo Magazine has already reviewed the game giving it a score of 64%. The ONM felt that the game was unfinished and can even be quoted to saying, “Call us back when you finish the game, eh chaps?”
It is really a great disappointment when you think that the Wii is going to get a hardcore, mature, horror-title that could give us a little taste of the greatness we all felt when we played Resident Evil 4.
Look out for Alone in the Dark this tuesday if you still want to give the game a shot despite bad reviews. We’ll see what some of the bigger sites have to say about this game, and if there’s much change then we’ll report it. But until then, keep checking back to My Wii News for more Wii info.
A couple of weeks back, we were shown a number of screens showing off the visuals of a new Wii exclusive FPS. That FPS was The Conduit and it caused quite a stir on the ‘net with its visuals that look absolutely stunning on the Wii. Then we were shown a tech demo of High Voltage’s Quantum3 Engine which had people even more surprised at how good it was looking. But many remained skeptical about The Conduit because often times games look a lot better in screens then they do in motion. But now My Wii News is bringing you a trailer of The Conduit to shut those skeptical guys up and prove once and for all that if a third-party developer actually tries, they can make a top quality title on the Wii.
The trailer shows off some footage of the games first person action and pace as the main character uses a couple of different guns including the SCAR rifle and an awesome looking pistol. Throughout the trailer you will feel like the game has a hint of mystery similar to Bioshock, with the narrator speaking in the beginning and the indoor environments and gameplay seeming like they came from Bioshock as well. The game seems to be taking great shape and it’s definitely a game that all Wii owners should be following.
Check out the Trailer and if your interested in the game leave a comment below. Keep checking back to My Wii News for more Conduit and Wii info.
Last year, true and wannabe rockers moved there fingers like maniacs as they worked their way through songs to be told, “You Rock!” This was the life of many gamers as they fought through the expert mode and eventually became a true guitar hero. Now that they have mastered the game, what do they do? Go and play Rock Band of course, because not only could they became guitar hero’s, but they could also become drum and singing hero’s too. So basically Rock Band kicked the crap out of Guitar Hero 3 last year. So this year, the guys over at Red Octane are deciding to follow more closely in Rock Band’s footsteps which is why Guitar Hero 4 will be receiving a dramatic overhaul. Here are some details of new features appearing in Guitar Hero 4.
First off, Guitar Hero 4 will be featuring more instruments then just a guitar. It will also include bass, singing, anda six-peice drum set with 2 cymbals (take that Rock Band!). You think thats good? Wait until you here this. Players will now be able to create their own songs and share them with players around the globe, thanks to the a new service called Guitar Hero Tunes. But these user created songs will not include singing. Players will also be able to create their own band members, album art, and instruments from scratch.
This time Guitar Hero’s guitar will not be a brand named guitar but instead Red Octane will be design their own axe for players to rock out on. And While no songs have been confirmed just yet, we can expect to see Sublime, Van Halen, Linkin Park, and The Eagle to be appearing on Guitar Hero 4.
Don’t worry, we will see Guitar Hero 4 by years end and it will be coming onto the 360, Wii, and PS3. There is no word yet whether or not it will make it onto the PS2 but I don’t see why not.
Well, thats all the details out right now, but keep checking back to My Wii News for more Guitar Hero and Wii info!
Wii owners were devastated when they found out that neither Guitar Hero or Rock Band would be featuring Downloadable content (DLC). Without DLC both of these games can easily becoming repetitive and boring. Well, it looks like MTV and Harmonix found their own solution to this problem. They announced that PS2 and Wii owners will be able to purchase a Rock Band track pack at their local gaming store starting on July 15th. This volume 1 pack will feature 20 new songs at a price of $29.99. While this is cheaper then the traditional $1.99 per song on the Xbox Live and PSN, you cannot choose the songs you want. But at least we will be able keep rockin’ out for a while until the next track pack comes out. Here’s a list of the songs featured on the pack just in case your interested.
